In this episode, Norma chats with fellow first generation students on some of the gaps they observed at their schools and how by becoming self-starters and innovators they have been able to leave behind a legacy.

  • Andrea who started a Spanish National Honor Society and then a Spanish club at her high school to explore various cultural identities of Spanish speaking countries. This initiative has challenged her to grow and improve her leadership skills. 

  • Alberto started Mariachi Luna Llena at Rice University, which has become a staple in the Houston community where musicians display and share their love for Mariachis. Alberto talks about his inspirations, challenges, and growth opportunities that led to his legacy at Rice.
