In this episode Norma chats with Rebecca Acuña about her first generation story, her political career in communication, and how she ended up leading President Biden’s revolutionary and bold idea to turn Texas blue.

Rebecca gives us some insight on how laws fundamentally changed her life and became the reason she became involved in politics from a young age. She encourages other first generation college students to think about what they can change in the next month and then get to work on the issues that matter to them. After all she reminds us that “you don’t just fall into a leadership position, you have to show leadership and a big part of that is that you are going to show up for any job.”

“They passed some law and changed my life”- How politics and policy has influenced her life every step of the way

“You don’t just fall into a leadership position, you have to show leadership and a big part of that is that you are going to show up for any job.”

“Senator Harris says, ‘Rebecca that was amazing and you are powerful and I know that many times you have been in a room where you are the only one that looks like you and it is so important that you be in the space. You are powerful.’”
