Episode 84: Transferring from a Community College to a University

Today I sit down with first gen, third year student Tati.  Like nearly 50% of first gen students, she began her post secondary educational journey at a community college.  Tati enrolled in the direct connect program, which helps students transfer to a university after getting their associates degree.  Tati talks about the differences between the two different types of institutions, what her transition was like, and whether she would choose the same path again.

A special thanks to Tati for joining me today and opening up about transition from Valencia to the University of Central Florida.  For a first generation student, Tati’s path is pretty common.  I hope you enjoyed hearing her story and it gave you an insight into what it is like to make the leap from a two year to a four year college.  It is not always easy, even for the strongest students, but with the right support it can certainly be done.  If you enjoyed listening to Tati’s story, shoot me a note on our social media at how to college first gen on Instagram and Facebook.  I can’t wait until our next chat.
