In this episode, Norma discusses with high school student Michelle the level of complexity Covid-19 has brought to her college applications and some tricks and tips to make the situation better for our high school seniors.

In this episode you will hear from:

High School Student Michelle as she discusses how COVID- 19 has impacted her socially, financially, and academically as she prepares to apply to college.

Here are some lessons learned from Michelle:

-Utilize technology to continue to grow your connections and form friendships your senior year of high school

-In absence of visiting schools, reach out to current students to learn more about the culture of school

-Look up the school on YouTube since many times students have documented things about their lives on videos

-Follow the school on social media to learn about their culture, but also how they are responding to the Covid-19 situation

-Be personable on your college interviews- emotions can be seen through zoom

-Figure out if you need to retake your SAT/ACT and make a plan accordingly because seats are going fast

-If your financial situation changes, let the college know in the special box or during the appeal process

-Use the “extra” time you might have during covid to make a positive impact in your community 1) it is the right thing to do and 2) it will help your college process like Michelle did with Kits con Cariño that provides essential items for low income women and immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley
